Dr. Lily Laux, the newly appointed Commissioner of Education for New Jersey, recently toured Grant Intermediate School alongside her team and key stakeholders, including Board of Education members, Mayor Reed Gusciora, and local community partners. With a strong background in classroom teaching and nonprofit leadership, Dr. Laux is prioritizing efforts to improve student achievement, address teacher shortages, and closely examine school funding across the state. It was truly an honor to welcome her to our school community.
This marks our second recent visit from the New Jersey Department of Education. This December, the Assistant Commissioner,Dr. Jordan Schiff visited Grant to observe our mental health and arts initiatives developed through our partnership with Young Audiences. Both representatives expressed strong appreciation for our students, staff, programs, and the positive, supportive culture that defines our school community.
